"Today I met God."
Yes, you read it right. This is the first line of the first page written in my diary. I have been writing a diary since 2012 in the same way as every teenager write. But that day was different. The diary was written differently that day.
After finishing college, I joined a job and bought a new diary before starting a new journey. I was to join the office from Monday and I entered the city with enthusiasm 2 days before on Saturday.
Now it was Sunday in the middle which was enough to increase my enthusiasm and I went out to roam the city. The day was really beautiful, and I happily returned to my new room, oblivious to tomorrow.
On the day of joining, I was ready for the new beginning of my life. But before leaving for the office, I thought of eating something and putting my hand in the bag to withdraw money, I found the wallet missing. I searched the whole room, all bags one by one, almirah, but could not find my wallet. I got distraught, I had ATM cards, Identity cards, Cash, everything inside it.
But I had to go to work as it was the joining day. The good thing was that my office was at walking distance from home, so I decided to go there on foot that day.
I came out of the house with a broken heart and it was only a few distances away from that an elderly uncle gave me a voice and asked me if I was Khushboo Chaudhary, I was like yes who else. Before I could speak anything, he put my wallet on my hand and started telling me how he got it. That the moment which has a special place in my diary.

I thanked him more than 100 times. The words written in the diary that day still make me realize that how blessed am I. And back from the office when I wrote that incident in the diary, I thought that I should write about all those who have helped me till now~ small or big. That day I turned my diary into a gratitude journal and instead of writing random thoughts about my day I started recording about the things I was grateful for.
What is being Grateful?
Being grateful means simply cultivating a genuine appreciation for what we already have. And we have a lot! I'm sure you'll agree that. Living your life with gratitude means choosing to focus your time and attention on what you appreciate.
How being Grateful makes you happier?
By acknowledging the blessings in disguise, life becomes happier and more content than ever.
Whatever it is, a breakup or a loss of a friend, a missed opportunity or not getting a job you want, it all will turn into a result you can't even imagine for. But through acknowledging, when you will start to memorize those events, it will always amaze you as it all was preplanned.
It allows you to remain present at the moment and cherish your own achievements and thus removed the thoughts of competition.
You gt to understand that everyone has their own timing for achieving success, it comes earlier to some and completely independent of other's actions, positions or work. It allows you to take your own time to accomplish anything and lifts you above the competition level.
Being grateful to even little things, makes you feel more grounded and prepares you to deal with whatever life throws at you.
Whenever something unpleasant will take place in life, you will be already curious to know what good is it to bring. It gives you strength and makes you realize that everything, happens, happens for a good reason. That will make you forget all the past or present miseries.
You become more about yourself and your actions and have more clarity in your thoughts
It will change your thinking pattern and will make you more conscious about the happenings around you, within you and thus has brought a sharpness in all your thoughts, words and actions.
Today, I am thankful for this journal I have, I am grateful for this blog website that allows me to share my experiences with you and really really thanks to you whose appreciation encourages me to write more.
So, If I asked you about the three things you are grateful for, right now, what will be your answer?
You have a home to live in, food to eat, be grateful for that. You have money in your pocket, thank God for that. And if you have nothing, be grateful that you are alive today.
Not only me but Psychology researchers themselves, over the past decades, identified that thanksgiving brings great social, psychological, and physical health benefits.
How to be grateful?
From my own experience, I recommend you to start a new habit of reflecting the things you’re grateful for can lead you to a happier, more positive life. The best you can do is start writing a gratitude journal. All you have to do is to take a few moments of your time and a gratitude journal to write your thoughts.
The journal you chose is no need to be a fancy diary, it can be a simple diary, a notebook ( lined or plain), whichever you wish to write in. I have a large diary that is inconvenient to carry, so if I am travelling and need to write something I can even use my cellphone to record my feelings.
You don't need to write something special always. You can write about the things around you for which you are grateful, a flower smell, book you reading this week, an author or a guitarist that inspires you, your morning coffee whatever you like, go for it.
You can write into it anytime, in the early morning if you want to thank God for being alive or before sleeping in the night to thank him for all the moments that happened throughout the day.
You need to check in with yourself regularly after a week, weeks or a month, what the benefits you are getting in your life, your thinking, your interaction with people around you.
Remember not to get caught in thoughts of improving your life in 1 or 2 weeks after starting the journal. It takes time to improve anything. I have found many positive effects in one year of time and there are many more to find yet. Hope you will find for yourself too, now it’s the time!
Before you read on I would like to let you know that I’m excited to announce that we have a new release now. Read all kinds of discovering yourself books to heal your trauma and free your heart.
