Experience is the greatest hack for your Spiritual journey we discussed in our previous blog. Every experience we encounter gives some information to us about ourselves. It’s the experience that tells us how we feel and think about a particular person, place or thing. So, here today I am going to discuss how an experience whether it’s good or bad is a key ingredient for our path to know our true self.
First of all, I would say that it’s your life story that brought you here. It is your personal experience to which this post has relevance. Otherwise, you would not be here, with it, right now. So be ready to learn about yourself through your experiences.
But you know what the ultimate irony here is that we have all placed so much significance on the words, and so little on the experience. We place so little importance on experience that when we experience God which is different from what we’ve heard of God, we automatically reject the experience and own the words when it should be just the reverse.
So before we start we must understand that our experience and our feelings about a thing represent what we factually and intuitively know about that thing. Words can only seek to symbolise what we know, and can often confuse what we know. Words can only be used to understand something but experiences allow us to know that thing. And thus we have to consider the experience of the grand communicator that tells us about the true nature of ourselves.
Writing about how to learn from the experience came a week ago as someone on social media told me that it’s merely a joke of thinking that experience can teach you if it would be true then why would a person who got betrayed by a loved one fall again in the same trap.
I tried to explain to him the concept of how the universe sends the same lessons to people through the experience again and again until they learn the lesson perfectly. People make the same mistakes over and over because they failed to learn the lesson from their first mistake. Simple. He didn’t satisfy as he was not a believer in the Universe. So, I am going to write in a simple language that does not require you to believe in something and at the same time can not mistakenly understand.
What Experience Tells About Yourself?
As I mentioned above that our experience about a thing represents what we factually and intuitively know about that thing. So we can say that we can only experience something when we already know about it whether physically or intuitively. We cannot experience what we do not know.
Consider this, you are fat and you know that you are fat. You can experience what it feels like to be fat. You may be proud or embarrassed by being fat (as our society works) but tell me, can you experience feeling good or bad about being fat if you don’t know what experience it takes to be thin?
The deepest secret here is that life is not a process of discovery but creation. You are not here to know yourself but to create yourself a new one. And the process of creation can not be done unless you experience your real self.
Take the above example. You are fat and want to be thin. You can only be thin when you know that you are fat and need to be thin. And you know that you are fat only through experience.
If you know that you are fat but do not experience it then why would you want to go for a diet to get slim? Simple. But if you experience that you are fat only then you would take steps to create yourself anew.
Same as with your ‘self’. Your soul already knows who are you and want to experience life to its fullest glory, want to transform to its highest version. But it can not be done. You can not transform yourself to the highest unless you know what are you right now. Unless you experience your life at the moment of now.
How To Know Yourself Through Experience?
Sit peacefully and inquire within what part of your self do you wish to experience in the particular moment of now. Ask yourself what aspect of being do you choose to call forth.
Choose a moment of joy, grief, success, failure, anger, or love and experience what you feel. Don’t judge. Not judging is the most important thing as your judgement about yourself might cause the hindrance of your true self to you. So, don’t envy the success, neither feel pity over the experience of failure as you don’t know what is success or failure in the soul’s reckoning. Read the greatest skill you all must master.
Just experience. Know how you are feeling about that. Notice what the experience trying to teach you. Observe the message without judging and accept it completely.
